Strong communities and effective institutions are essential for sustainable development, social cohesion, and resilience. In Somaliland, limited institutional capacity, resource constraints, and the impacts of conflict, displacement, and climate shocks continue to challenge effective service delivery and community-led development.
Through our Community & Institutional Capacity Building programme, we work to strengthen local capacities, promote good governance, and empower communities to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives. Our approach prioritises inclusion, accountability, and sustainability.
Community Mobilisation & Participation
We support community mobilisation initiatives that encourage inclusive participation, collective action, and local ownership of development programmes. By engaging community leaders, youth, women, and vulnerable groups, we help communities identify priorities, develop solutions, and monitor progress.
Institutional Strengthening
We work with local institutions, civil society organisations, and community structures to strengthen organisational systems, leadership, and service delivery capacity. This includes training in governance, project management, financial management, safeguarding, and accountability.
Youth & Women Leadership Development
We promote youth and women’s leadership through capacity-building programmes that enhance skills, confidence, and participation in community and institutional decision-making. These initiatives help foster inclusive leadership and social cohesion.
Advocacy & Social Accountability
We support advocacy and social accountability initiatives that enable communities to engage constructively with authorities and service providers. Through awareness-raising and dialogue, we help strengthen trust, transparency, and responsive governance.
Partnerships & Coordination
We facilitate collaboration and coordination among community actors, government institutions, and development partners to improve programme effectiveness and reduce duplication. Strong partnerships are central to achieving sustainable and scalable impact.
