Youth represent one of Somaliland’s greatest assets, yet many face unemployment, limited access to education and skills training, and social exclusion. These challenges are further intensified by poverty, displacement, and limited economic opportunities, increasing the risk of negative coping mechanisms and long-term vulnerability.
Through our Youth Empowerment & Skills Development programme, we aim to unlock young people’s potential by equipping them with market-relevant skills, life skills, and pathways to employment and entrepreneurship. Our approach is inclusive, practical, and community-driven, ensuring that youth are active agents of change rather than passive beneficiaries.
Vocational Skills Training
We provide vocational and technical skills training aligned with local labour market needs, including trades, digital skills, and service-based professions. Training programmes are designed to improve employability and enable youth to generate sustainable income.
Life Skills & Employability
We deliver life skills and employability training that strengthens communication, teamwork, problem-solving, financial literacy, and workplace readiness. These skills support young people to successfully transition into employment or self-employment.
Entrepreneurship & Business Development
We support aspiring young entrepreneurs through business skills training, mentorship, and start-up support. This includes guidance on business planning, financial management, and access to markets, helping youth turn ideas into viable enterprises.
Youth Leadership & Civic Engagement
We promote youth leadership and civic participation by supporting youth-led initiatives, community engagement, and leadership development activities. These initiatives foster confidence, social responsibility, and constructive youth participation in community development.
Inclusion of Vulnerable Youth
Our programmes prioritise vulnerable and marginalised youth, including out-of-school youth, young women, and youth affected by displacement or poverty. Targeted support ensures inclusive access to skills development and economic opportunities.
