Description

Human rights and gender equality are fundamental to sustainable development, peace, and social cohesion. In Somaliland, women, girls, and marginalised groups continue to face barriers to participation, protection, and equal access to opportunities due to social norms, economic inequality, and limited awareness of rights.

Through our Human Rights & Gender Empowerment programme, we work to promote rights-based approaches that strengthen dignity, equality, and participation at individual, community, and institutional levels. Our interventions aim to empower communities to claim their rights while fostering inclusive social change.

Rights Awareness & Legal Literacy

We raise awareness of human rights, gender equality, and legal protections through community education, dialogue sessions, and outreach activities. These initiatives help individuals understand their rights and responsibilities and encourage informed participation in social and civic life.

Women & Girls’ Empowerment

We support women and girls through skills development, leadership training, and economic empowerment initiatives that enhance confidence, independence, and decision-making power. Our programmes aim to reduce gender inequality and strengthen women’s roles within households and communities.

Gender Equality & Social Norms Change

We engage communities, including men and boys, to challenge harmful gender norms and promote positive attitudes towards gender equality. Through dialogue, advocacy, and community-led initiatives, we support sustainable behaviour change and inclusive social norms.

Protection & Inclusion of Marginalised Groups

We promote the rights and inclusion of marginalised and vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, displaced populations, and minority groups. Our work focuses on reducing discrimination, increasing access to services, and strengthening social inclusion.

Advocacy & Institutional Engagement

We collaborate with local institutions, civil society, and authorities to strengthen gender-responsive and rights-based policies and practices. Through advocacy and capacity building, we support institutional accountability and inclusive governance.
