Description

Education is a powerful driver of social transformation, economic development, and long-term stability. In Somaliland, many children and young people remain excluded from education due to poverty, displacement, gender inequality, early marriage, and limited access to quality learning environments.

Through our Education for All programme, we aim to ensure that every child and young person—regardless of background—has the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Our approach focuses on inclusion, quality, protection, and community ownership, supporting both immediate access to education and long-term educational outcomes.

Formal Education Support

We support vulnerable children’s access to formal education by contributing to school fees, learning materials, uniforms, and educational supplies. Our interventions help reduce financial barriers and promote school enrolment, attendance, and retention.

Non-Formal & Alternative Education

For out-of-school children, adolescents, and youth, we deliver non-formal and alternative education programmes that provide flexible learning pathways. These programmes focus on literacy, numeracy, and foundational skills, enabling learners to reintegrate into formal education or transition into vocational training and livelihoods.

Vocational & Skills Development

We provide vocational training and life skills education for youth and young adults to improve employability and self-reliance. Training is designed to respond to local labour market needs and equip learners with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.

Girls’ Education & Inclusion

We actively promote girls’ education and address gender-based barriers through targeted support, community engagement, and awareness-raising. Our programmes aim to increase enrolment, retention, and completion rates for girls, while fostering safe and inclusive learning environments.

Learning Environments & Community Engagement

We work with communities, schools, and local authorities to strengthen learning environments and promote shared responsibility for education. This includes school rehabilitation, community education committees, and parental engagement to support safe, protective, and child-friendly schools.
